When I'm in my She-Shed I just create. I normally don't have a plan unless I have a specific art piece to make for a client. Today was just a day for creativity. I enjoy these days. Whatever flows...flows.
I talked with a life-long friend today who is having a tough time. Her mom is not doing well. I love her mom. It's a sad time for me as well. I'm not sure if my friend's mom will make it. My friend has trepidations as well. Its just a sad day.
After I made a wreath for my door, I wanted to start working on some art that would gravitate toward working with natural materials that evoked tattoo art balanced around feminine beauty and creativity. Some pretty cool symbols that I could make as wall art. Plain and simple.
However, that's not was planned for me.
What was planned for me was creating a birch angel with brown angel feathers. This creation just came out of no where. I just kept thinking of my friend, and my friend's mom with lots of love. I think it's beautiful. This is for my friend. And her mom.
As I was making it, I just remembered all of the good times that I had as a child growing up with my friend and my friend's mom. So many good times. And it's a shame that we are at this point in life that I will be saying goodbye soon.
Sandy, this angel is for you.
Brown is the color of earth: comforting, nurturing, stable and fertile. It has a feeling of the comforts of home, being cozy, safe and warm. A brown feather is to keep a balanced perspective, to live life in moderation and to set healthy boundaries.
This is how I felt being around Sandy. I felt safe and at home. All of the time.
I'm glad that an angel came out of the She-Shed today. This is for my friend and her mom. God Bless.
